In light of new regulations, including the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) and the ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation), it’s becoming increasingly important that companies design their products and packaging to be recyclable and contribute to the recycling process.

From waste to resource –
clozed loop™ at a glance
Stages in the cycle: Our clozed loop™ recycling system ensures that the materials in products and packaging are used sustainably. Manufacturers and retailers place products on the market. After use by consumers, these products are discarded as waste and collected by efficient systems. This waste is carefully sorted and processed, resulting in valuable secondary raw materials that are used to manufacture new products. These products are then returned to the market, closing the resource cycle, or loop, and helping to pave the way for an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient future.
clozed loop™: evaluate, optimise, implement
Our three-step process for sustainable recycling and circular resource management:
Step one:
Evaluate
Our experts work with you to assess the recyclability of your products and packaging. Take advantage of our tailored recommendations to help you optimise your packaging design. We offer an initial consultation and carry out a detailed analysis. On request, we can provide you with a certificate based on laboratory results. We also train your team and can arrange site visits so that you are optimally prepared for future requirements.
Step Two:
Optimise
Based on the assessment, we work with you to develop tailor-made solutions to optimise your processes. If your packaging is licensed through Germany’s dual waste collection system, we make sure it’s recycled sustainably after collection. If your business isn’t part of the dual system, we will develop a bespoke take-back system for you so that we can establish a closed resource cycle. We decide on an appropriate collection system with a schedule to suit you and handle all of the logistics, from the collection point to the production of new products.
Step Three:
Implement
On completion of a successful test phase, we work with you to fully implement clozed loop™. We coordinate all the parties involved and ensure that the process of recycling your products or packaging runs smoothly. Our support doesn’t end at the implementation stage. We continuously monitor the process and adjust it as needed so that it benefits you in the long term.
Best Practice example: clozed loop™ in the architectural coatings industry
With more than ten years of experience in the take-back and recovery of recyclable materials in the architectural coatings industry, Zentek has established a closed-loop system for empty plastic buckets. After use, the buckets are deposited at central collection points, then picked up by Zentek and its partners, sorted and processed for recycling. The recycled material is then used to manufacture new PP buckets. Companies that want to be part of this sustainable circular system are very welcome to participate. Find out more on our website: Closed-loop recycling of plastic buckets (text in German only).
Stay ahead of the competition: Webinars for your company
We offer regular webinars to help you and your team prepare as effectively as possible for the upcoming changes in legislation. In these training sessions, we explain the content and requirements of legal regulations and present practical solutions you can use to comply with them successfully.
